Tomas
Tomas was seen around the lane and farm buildings. We knew there was a cact about as our cats were coming in either terrified with tails like bushes or fur ruffled from a fracasse! Jeff first got near to him down teh lane and stopped to ask him his name at which Tomas ran off! Troble got worse and it got to teh pouint wehre I said to local cats Protection if we capture him can you find him a home and neuter him? Yes they said and lent us a trap. We had already got in teh barn a cat pen from when we had lvied in manchester and had cpatured Monty thinking he would live in there..how wrong we were! See his page for that story! So we set teh trap and he was in it it within half an hour. I ran over to see him and the poor boy was in a right state. He had scabs and open wounds and sores across his head. He had obvoopusly been fighting with ours and hence the fear by some of them to go outside. He was actually able to be handled. Leastways I could Jeff couldn't he packicked..the cat that is not Jeff. SO we took him off to teh vets to be looked at and we were given anitbitoics to give him...mmm! some times you wonder when you bring in a stray as to how the vet thinks you are going to give the cat these when most times if it goes ont heir food they wont eat it and will avoid everypart that has any of that on it. Let alone hold tehm and give it by mouth! I have over the years found a way of doing so that most cats will not object to although I will not boast and say it works with every cat. theer are still some who I wont get my fingers too near their mouths without gloves on...which by the way make the whole event even more difficult as you lose the dexterity you have with simply fingers.
Anyhow we brought him back and put him in this cat run which had its own housing and there he lived for a few weeks. We also made arrangements for him to be neutered. He was a very lively cat. If any other cat came nearby to investigate he would attack from behind his barrier. 'Not a good sign.' I thought. As October crept towards us I was worried he would be in the dark permanently over in the barn, it could get pretty windy and cold there and so asked Jeff if we could move the pen into teh sun room. Jeff came up with the brainwave idea that we could use the cat pen runs to create his own area in the sun room thus giving him more space to leap about and runand for teh both him and the other cats to view each other and hopefully get used to each other so we could let him out soon.
