Jeff said he would like a dog. In fact we both would like a dog. We knew that we had to find one that could lvie with the numerous cats we had by this time and one which wouldn't chase them or be tempted to do so. A temperament that was placid and gentle. I searched the Kennel Club website which had details of the different kinds of dogs and their temperaments and finally came up with an Old English Sheepdog. Jeff had heard of them and had also seen someone on the island who when he had commented on the way the dog watched Jeff with his eyes had told him how funny they are and loveable. Never a dull moment. We agreed it was to be an OES! Once again the internet finds its place and a lot of research and searching to find a reputable breeder. We found one but they were down in Lincolnshire. I spoke with the woman on the phone several times, got names of people she had placed puppies with and spoke with them and another breeder. She had got a litter of puppies and told me that we could have one called Lindy, I couldn't believe this as this was the nickname my Dad used to call me by...this was meant to be! I was at home and couldn't wait to tell Jeff when he got home. We were so excited! She sent us a picture of her and of course in our eyes she was adorable. We were also reassured that she had no history in her line of one of the breed problems of hip dysplaisia. We now set to to make arrangements to go down and view her and if it was all ok to bring her home with us.
